Senior Software Engineer

SUMMARY

Reporting to the VP of Development, the Senior Software Engineer is responsible for architecting and developing digital products and services along with being able coordinate developer team tasks.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional development experience with more than 10 years of experience, communication, and leadership skills. Additionally, this role will require in depth general technical knowledge, and the ability to effectively work with the digital product team to deliver a complete product that meets business requirements per schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Responsible for the technical product strategy, strategy, and informing business decisions with technical insight.
• Developing architectural and coding standards and providing architectural leadership to the entire engineering team to ensure that all our products are scalable, extensible and high performance
• Working with the various stakeholders to generate ideas for new applications and product lines, and to determine scope and priorities
• Guiding products and projects through the full development cycle using Agile and XP methodologies including requirements, specification, software development, iterative design and development, QA, release, and support
• Hands-on programming and expansion of major system components using industry standard best practices
• Inspiring the engineering team with quick prototypes, demonstrations of groundbreaking new art and tech from our field, hackathons, and other motivational activities
• Leveraging pre-existing open- and closed-source creative coding platforms for rapid development and internal tools
• Linux system administration related to development (“DevOps”)
• Participate in building and enhancing the products presence across the social media ecosystem and help in planning product launch campaigns.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent industry experience preferred; Advanced technical degree a plus.

EXPERIENCE

• 10 to 12 years experience in application development.

• Understanding of enterprise CMS platforms such as Adobe CQ
• Working knowledge of GIT or other collaborative version control systems

• API Design, client-server communication experiences
• Caching techniques
• Test Driven Development (TDD & BDD)
• Deep understanding and knowledge of the technology landscape and digital product lifecycle.
• Understanding and management of Change Request workflow
• Good knowledge in system administration on both open and closed stacks.
• Design/Architect major application software and user experience solutions on emerging platforms, Java, C/C++, Android, and Linux.
